On the plane (August 2011)

On the plane back to Japan after a rush to check-in and custom clearance. Being in Japan for years made me forgot that during the festive holidays in Malaysia, even the usual smooth-sailing highways could jam up for hours. I was lucky to be able to board the flight on time...

"Nyaa,Nyaa"
The kid in front of me is starting to throw his tantrums. Minutes ago he was still playing with his parents, playing hide and seek with me. I guess the ear plugs his parents inserted into his ears didn't work. Air pressure could be pretty painful for young kids.

My nasi lemak meal has arrived. I wonder why it tasted better this time around. Maybe it's the thought that I couldn't get this any more when I arrive at my destination. Maybe, on my flight home I was already fantasizing about lovelier meals I could have, instead of the in-flight meal. Things always seemed better appreciated when the thought of  "this could be the last one" occurs.

Good times have to come to an end. No more hanging out with friends at eateries with fancy interiors, no more home cooked meals with family, no more shopping with a bigger currency, no more waking up on the queen size bed at any time I want in the morning.

Time to head back to reality.
Where hundreds of work awaits.
Time to grow up again.
