It was a very spontaneous trip.Because there was a promotion on HIS in June whereby we can sign up for a mystery trip for 10000yen for 3days or 15000yen for 4days.By mystery tour,it meant that we have no idea where we were going(except that it's an Asian country) until 2weeks before departure. So I was really surprised to find that the destination was Bangkok because Bangkok is pretty far comparing to Korea or China etc..
There's nothing much to say actually..Day one,we arrived at Bangkok and at the airport the HIS tour guide took us to our hotel at Bangkok Center which again was a pleasant surprise. With such low price,I find it very nice that we have a pretty decent place to stay for 3 nights and have free buffet breakfast as well.
The tour begins the next day.We headed to all the temples with another 6 Japanese in a chartered van.It was pretty breath taking from the top,but trust me,the steps were so steep that it was damn frightening.
We also went to see the Sleeping Buddha which according to the guide, was 45meters long and its only the 3rd longest in Thailand.
And these, according to the guide are tombstones for the wealthy..Not much privacy,to me.
And these are Yoga poses..
And then more temple visiting before lunch.Would have love to spend more time here cuz this place was really beautiful.Too bad there was too many tourist. We got to see the statue in Emerald..But too bad cannot take pictures.A miniature of Angkor Wat.
We had buffet lunch at the hotel where the other Japanese was staying and then we went to get tickets for the cultural show of Thailand with the old Japanese couple. The man can speak really good Chinese which was really surprising until I found out he stayed in Taiwan before..
We were told that most Thailand man would become a monk for a few weeks or months before getting married.Really surprised to hear that.A palace now used as a museum. The unique-ness of this place is that it spots an European building with Thai-styled roof.
Then it was free time,so Clement and I decided to head to the Weekend Market. There we did a lot of souvenir shopping. The place was really big..Too bad it was raining else I would have enjoyed shopping there more.Well,I didn't get anything for myself, because the things there was mostly souvenir shopping sorta kind of place. We head back later and after dinner we went for massage at the massage parlour next to the hotel.2hours for 6oobaht,it was pretty worth it.I almost slept in there. It was really relaxing.
Day 3(Free time)
We had to pay an extra 900baht to the HIS guide to visit the floating market which was outside Bangkok but with a chartered van and a guide,we thought it was pretty worth it,so with the other 4 Japanese, off we went.
We took a boat ride to get to the market which was very enjoyable.Cuz we got to see how people still live near the river side, using the river water to do chores.Very kampung-ish,but I like it.It was pretty cool, but things there wasn't really cheap. After what we had bought at the Weekend Market, the Floating markets stuff was very pricey in comparison, maybe because it was a tourist area.
After that the guide took us to some coconut farm, and a place where we can ride elephants.Running out of cash,I gave the elephant ride a pass..
In the van she also told us something about the number plates of Thailand. That the yellow plates are for service transportations like taxis or bus, while white is the normal ones. The special ones are the RED number plate, where its for new cars and only within 6am til 6pm the car can be used on the roads else the driver could be fine. The Red number plate is something like a probation for one month to make sure the car has no defects whatsoever.
We also went to a place where the sold carved wood furnitures and sculptures as well.It was pretty pricey but worth taking a look around.
We then headed Central World for some shopping which in my opinion was pretty big as well. The shopping complex was bigger than Mid Valley and there was many floors too.I once read that Thai people tend to earn money for branded stuff nowadays,so I was not surprised to see that there are more branded shop lots around.Next we went to Thailand Cultural Center for the cultural show. The place was pretty cool as they also performed some dance at an outdoor stage before the actual show started. The real show was alright, more dances and the preps were good. But to me,it lacked climax.
After the show,it was our last dinner in Bangkok so we head to a seafood restaurant where the guide had recommended. The Tom Yum Kung was really good and also the Curry Prawns was fabulous.A bit pricey but definitely worth it.
Day 4
Head back to Tokyo and then went to Karaoke with Min Ley,Kim Shing,Clement,Li Jia,Soo Sing and Shi Han.Li Jia was really good.Really impressed.Tired out.
